Colorful, Creative, Enthusiastic, and Persevering are key qualities that makeup Courtney Avichouser. From a young age, you could often find Courtney with a camera in hand and a dream on the horizon. As a creator, Courtney was trained at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), receiving a BFA in Photography, and studied graphic design. This training only furthered her love of the visual arts and her dedication to bring elements of her unique life to the screen.

Courtney has spent the past 20 years as an active member of the Maui community. Earlier in life, she had lived in Maui where she met her late husband, gave birth to her two children, and first fell in love with the island. Events led them to South Carolina where Courtney worked in sales and advertising at a sizable real estate corporation. After several major tragedies, including the unexpected death of her husband, Courtney received her training, and moved herself, her car, and her two teenage children back to Maui. It was there that she decided to start her life anew and dedicate herself to the island and the community that helped heal her children and herself. Whether it be spending time with friends on the beach, exploring the water, or enjoying adventures on the islands, Courtney’s love for Maui is immeasurable.

Courtney has run three successful and diverse businesses utilizing the resources of the Hawaiian islands. Courtney’s Crumbles, a gourmet brownie business sold local baked delicacies on Maui; The Bagel Express, a mobile breakfast company, which fed local business with delectable breakfast treats; and A Hint of Hawaii, a gift basket and Hawaiian flower shipping company that allowed for people around the world to experience the beauty of Hawaiian flora in their own homes.

Currently, Courtney is in the midst of creating and packaging a television show that embodies her experiences and healing on Maui: 808 State of Mind. The show has already attracted the attention of producers and has gained notoriety from industry experts. Since starting this endeavor, Courtney has collaborated with several well-established writers with over 30 years of television and journalist writing experience (NBC, Universal, Disney, and ABC, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal).

It is Courtney’s goal to bring this beautiful and dynamic project to fruition by having production on her beautiful home island of Maui, bringing hundreds of jobs to Maui residents and thus support the community that has always supported her. Through tragedy, Courtney hopes to inspire audiences with a narrative that explores the healing process, how one can pick up the pieces with the help of a supportive and loving community.

Courtney has been named a finalist for the GVS (Global Virtual Studios) Accelerator Program, a winner of the GVS pitch industry mentorship, a semi-finalist for the screenplay TV Contest, a semi-finalist for the ScreenCraft Pilot Launch TV Script Contest and a quarter-finalist with the Shore Scripts TV Pilot Contest.
